How do you know DirectX 9.0c is fully installed? Run dxdiag. Look for “DirectX Version: 9.0c” and “Display Tab → Device → Driver Model: WDDM 1.0 or earlier”.

Then check C:\Windows\System32\d3d9.dll hash against the official repo list. (MD5: a1b2c3.... Get it from the community docs.)

You need /bin, /res, and /cache visible at the root. Not buried under another folder named after the zip. (Yes, I’ve spent 47 minutes debugging that.)

The d3d9.dll fix is non-negotiable. Drop it into /bin. Not /res.

Not your desktop. /bin. File size must be exactly 294,912 bytes. Check it.

Right-click → Properties → Details tab. If it’s off by even one byte? Black screen.
